The second part of this Meeting Legends brings us to the gorgeous red Series 1 Ford Mustang fastback. I can’t quite remember when i fel in love with this car. When people refer to the beauty and wonder of classic American muscle, this is the first car that comes to mind.
I don’t know what it is about the Mustang, probably the same thing that made it such a hit when it first went on sale in the 60’s. The accessibility of this car is unlike any other. As far as American classics are concerned, it was the one you could just see yourself in. Slowly cruising with no place in particular to go, gunning it from traffic light to traffic light.
It’s always a joy to see a classic as well maintained as this. We may be in lovely Southern Africa but we’re still get a taste of 1960’s Americana
Say what you will about live rear axles and muscle car handling, for pure cruising pleasure this car is up there with the best of them. Powerful engine and plenty of space for weekend luggage. It’s just a shame we don’t have coastal highway…
