Axcil Jefferies ended 2021 on a bittersweet note; after some damage put an early end to his WEC debut at the Bahrain 8 Hour race. He was a last-minute call-up to replace the COVID-19 positive Michael Vergers for the WRT backed MS7 team. Jefferies was a winner at the previous Hankook 2020 Dubai 24 Hour with GPX Racing.

MS7 by WRT led a commanding 1-2 victory for Audi R8 LMS; with the sister WRT team finishing second at the Hankook 24 Hour. This was Audi’s third overall victory, a back to back victory for Jefferies at the event; and the first-ever for a team run under the Saudi Arabian flag. The number 7 Audi started the race on pole position and was piloted by Mohammed Saud Fahad Al Saud / Axcil Jefferies / Dries Vanthoor / Christopher Mies / Thomas Neubauer.

A week later Jefferies joins Baron Motorsport for the Abu Dhabi 6 Hour race. This time behind the wheel of the team’s Ferrari 488 GT3. Once again Jefferies team, which consisted of fellow drivers: Ernst Kirchmayr, Philipp Baron,Roman Ziemian and Mikkel Mac secured pole position for the race. The team was dominant and rarely faced a challenge during the race. Jefferies even managed to set the fastest lap of the race of 1m 53.172s in his second last stint. With two victories under his belt by the end of January, Jefferies seems to be a driver in rapid form.

The rest of Jefferies 2022 race program

Much will be expected of Axcil Jefferies during the rest of the year as he continues to fly the Zimbabwean flag high overseas. As announced on his social media platforms, Jefferies has three racing programs scheduled this year. The first two will be racing Ferrari’s for Kessel in the Asian Lemans Series followed by the International GT Open series. The third program will be with Konrad Motorsport with whom Jefferies has raced on four previous occasions.
